SSL Certificate Installation

Please select your operating system from the list below, and follow the instructions to install the certificate.

  1. Download the certificate and click to open the file once it has finished downloading.
  2. When the certificate prompt opens click the Install Certificate button.
  3. Now select Local Machine and click Next.
  4. If you receve a popup, click Yes or enter your administrative username and password. If you are not an administrator on your machine, please select Current User on the previous step and try again.
  5. Select Place all certificates in the following store and click Browse.
  6. Select the Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK.
  7. Click Next and then Finish.
  8. Finally completely close all of your browsers (Chrome, Edge, FireFox, or Internet Explorer) and then reopen your browser. You can now carry on and access the internet as normal.
  9. To check the certificate is working, go to https://sslcheck.learningat.uk.

  1. Download the certificate to your iPad or iPhone.
  2. A message This website is trying to download a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this? will appear. Click on Allow.
  3. Another message Review the profile in Settings app if you want to install it. will appear. Click on Close.
  4. Next open the Settings app.
  5. Underneath the user details, tap Profile Downloaded.
  6. In the top right corner, tap Install.
  7. If the iOS device has a passcode or biometric authentication set, the device will prompt you to enter it.
  8. A certificate warning will be displayed. Tap Install. If a second prompt is displayed, tap Install again.
  9. Once the Profile Installed screen is displayed. Tap Done.
  10. Open the Settings app and go to General > About > Certificate Trust Settings.
  11. Find the Smoothwall certificate and then slide the toggle so that it is green to enable the certificate.
  12. A confirmation dialogue will be displayed. Tap Continue.
  13. To check the certificate is working, go to https://sslcheck.learningat.uk.

  1. Download the certificate to your computer.
  2. Open your downloads folder and double-click the certificate to open it.
  3. Once the Add certificates prompt opens, select System from the Keychain menu and then click Add.
  4. Next enter you username and password or use your biometrics to sign in.
  5. Now search for and open the Keychain Access application.
  6. From the menu on the left, click on System and then click on the Certificates category.
  7. Double-click on the Smoothwall certificate.
  8. Click to expand the Trust menu in the top left.
  9. From the When using this certificate dropdown, select Always Trust.
  10. Now check that all of the options say Always Trust and then click on the red close button in the top left.
  11. Next enter you username and password or use your biometrics to sign in again.
  12. In the certificate list, the Smoothwall should now show that it is Trusted.
  13. Now quit your browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and then reopen your browser. You can now carry on and access the internet as normal.
  14. To check the certificate is working, go to https://sslcheck.learningat.uk.

  1. Download the certificate to your tablet or phone.
  2. Next open the Settings app.
  3. Open the Biometrics and security settings.
  4. Scroll down and select Other security settings. If you can't find this option, some versions of Android display it in a different section of the menu. Try searching for 'certificate' in your settings search bar instead.
  5. Select Install from device storage.
  6. Select CA certificate.
  7. If you get a prompt warning you about security, you are fine to proceed by clicking Install anyway as long as you are installing our certificate. If you are installing a different certificate, please proceed with caution.
  8. Now search for the certificate in your downloads folder.
  9. Select the Learning Academies Trust - Smoothwall CA.crt file and then click Done.
  10. You should now have a message confirming the CA certificate installed correctly.
  11. To check the certificate is working, go to https://sslcheck.learningat.uk.

  1. Download the certificate to your Chromebook.
  2. Click on the menu from the bottom right of your screen and then click on the settings icon at the top of the menu.
  3. On the left menu, expand Advanced and select Privacy and security.
  4. Scroll down and select the Manage certificates menu.
  5. Click on Authorities at the top of the page and then click Import.
  6. Select the Learning Academies Trust - Smoothwall CA.crt certificate file that you downloaded in step 1.
  7. Next check the box for Trust this certificate for identifying websites and then click OK.
  8. Now close your Chrome browser and reopen it. You can now carry on and access the internet as normal.
  9. To check the certificate is working, go to https://sslcheck.learningat.uk.
Download Certificate
